Softball suffers two losses in St. Thomas series before returning home to face North Dakota State

South Dakota State Softball faced a tough 2-1 series loss against St. Thomas over the weekend. In the first game, the Jacks suffered a 6-0 shutout, with the Tommies scoring three runs in both the first and third innings. They bounced back in the second game to grab an 8-5 victory, highlighted by strong performances from Akayla Barnard and Emma Vike. However, in the third and final game, St. Thomas came out on top with a 6-2 win, securing the series victory.

Head coach Kristina McSweeney noted that the team struggled to maintain consistency throughout the series. The Jacks are now 6-3 in Summit League play and sit in third place behind Omaha and St. Thomas. They will look to bounce back against North Dakota State in a three-game series this weekend.

NDSU currently ranks sixth in the conference and will be a tough opponent for the Jacks. McSweeney emphasized the importance of winning innings and controlling the beginning of games to secure wins in the upcoming series. The games will be streamed on the Summit League Network through Midco Sports.
