CBP reports that recent tariffs have brought in $500 million in revenue, falling short of Trump’s projected amount.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has collected over $500 million in total tariff revenue from 15 presidential trade actions since January 20, 2025. This contradicts President Donald Trump’s claims that the United States is taking in $2 billion per day from tariffs, including revenue from his “reciprocal” tariffs. The recent glitch in the finance system did not disrupt CBP’s average daily revenue stream of $250 million. The Treasury Department’s most recent data shows daily deposits of $305 million under “Customs and Certain Excise Taxes.” In early April, the Trump administration imposed steep tariffs on multiple countries, later lowering most rates to 10% and increasing tariffs on China. The administration also maintained specific tariffs on the automotive industry and is expected to announce new trade policies for the pharmaceutical industry.
