North Dakota political leader proven to have lied to reporter in jail texts three years after initial report – InForum

Former North Dakota Senator Ray Holmberg has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for traveling to Prague with plans to sexually abuse children and receiving child sex abuse files. This comes after text messages revealed he had asked a man accused of possessing child sex abuse materials to bring his boyfriend over for dinner and a massage. The man, Nicholas Morgan-Derosier, pleaded guilty to possession of child sex abuse files and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Holmberg denied knowledge of Morgan-Derosier’s charges and claimed he did not know the man was in jail. However, jail phone records showed they exchanged 72 text messages discussing a massage request. Holmberg resigned after the text messages were made public, and it was revealed he had given Morgan-Derosier a ride to Bismarck in 2020 for a meeting about a construction and fraud case. Holmberg is currently held at the Sherburne County Jail in Minnesota pending transfer to a federal facility, while Morgan-Derosier is imprisoned at the Talladega Federal Correctional Institution in Alabama. The case has raised concerns about child sex abuse and exploitation, leading to increased scrutiny of those involved.
