Getting to Know Grey Zabel: A Look into North Dakota State Football Lineman’s Performance at Senior Bowl

Grey Zabel, a former North Dakota State football offensive lineman, has made a strong impression at the Senior Bowl practices and game. Zabel was named the Senior Bowl Overall Practice Player of the Week by NFL executives and is now being considered a potential late first-round pick. Standing at 6-foot-5, 316 pounds, Zabel played multiple positions during his time at NDSU, including left tackle, left guard, right tackle, and right guard. His versatility was on display at the Senior Bowl, where he excelled at guard and even took snaps at center. Zabel, who graduated with a major in agribusiness and a minor in economics and precision agriculture, earned First-Team FCS All-American honors this past season. His performance at the Senior Bowl garnered praise from NFL draft analysts, with some predicting that he could be selected in the late first round.

Despite being unranked in the recruiting class of 2020, Zabel received offers from South Dakota and South Dakota State before committing to NDSU. At T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, South Dakota, he recorded impressive stats, including 84 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. Zabel’s journey from being unranked in high school to potentially being a first-round NFL draft pick exemplifies his hard work and dedication to the game.
