Thousands Attend ‘Hands Off’ Protests in Minnesota and North Dakota: Photos from the Grand Forks Herald

The nationwide “Hands Off!” protests against the White House administration led by President Donald Trump and adviser Elon Musk saw hundreds and sometimes thousands of citizens gathering in North Dakota and Minnesota on April 5. More than 1,200 protests were scheduled across the United States, with people rallying against power grabs such as cuts to Social Security, firing federal workers, and health care funding reductions.

In Alexandria, Minnesota, an unexpected turnout saw organizers run out of buttons, while in Detroit Lakes, over 200 people attended a rally criticizing federal funding cuts and various tariffs. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison spoke at Duluth’s rally, and similar events took place in several Northland cities, with overwhelming participation in Bismarck, Grand Forks, and Jamestown.

Protesters lined up bridges and streets carrying signs demanding “Hands Off” various critical issues like veterans’ benefits, LGBTQ rights, and more. The protests emphasized the importance of opposing damaging policies and cuts to essential programs. Attendees at the events expressed solidarity and hope for a unified opposition movement against the perceived destruction of government and the economy for the benefit of the President and his allies. Hundreds, if not thousands, attended these protests nationwide, showing a strong stance against detrimental policy changes.
