Hawks sweep series against KC with back-to-back wins


North Dakota softball kicked off their Summit League series against Kansas City with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Jackie Albrecht threw a one-hitter in the first game, leading the Hawks to a 4-1 victory. The team held off a late rally from the Roos in game two to secure a 4-3 win and claim the series. This was North Dakota’s first conference win of the season, bringing their overall record to 19-18. Albrecht’s stellar performance included seven strikeouts and just one hit allowed.

The Hawks provided ample run support for Albrecht with key hits from Callie Honig and Camryn Lasota. Hailey Bethune also contributed two RBIs in the first game. In the second game, Lasota and Taya Hopfauf delivered sacrifice flies to give North Dakota an early lead. Makaela Carr pitched well, and Unity Nelson earned her first career save.

The Roos made a late push in the seventh inning of the second game, but North Dakota’s defense shut them down with a double play to secure the win.
