Proposed Carbon Pipeline Delayed Due to South Dakota Law
The company Summit Carbon Solutions has announced its decision to indefinitely delay its $8.9 billion carbon-capture pipeline project following the passage of a law in South Dakota that limits the company’s ability to acquire land for the project. The 2,500-mile pipeline, which was set to carry carbon emissions from ethanol plants in five Midwestern states to be stored underground in North Dakota, had already received approvals in Iowa, Minnesota, and North Dakota.
