Meggan Randall Sundwall, a registered nurse from Utah, has been arrested and accused of killing her friend, Kacee Lyn Terry, in order to cash in on her life insurance policy. Terry was found dead from an overdose of insulin and sedatives, even though she was not diabetic. Sundwall had allegedly convinced Terry that she had cancer and needed to be medicated, planning to benefit from a rumored $1.5 million life insurance policy. Text messages between the two revealed Sundwall’s intentions to help Terry die and solve her own money problems by receiving the insurance payout. On the day Terry died, Sundwall had sent a text asking if Terry wanted to take medication to fall asleep before it happened. Terry’s family believed she had terminal cancer, but in reality, she was healthy. Sundwall was found alone with Terry for several hours before she was discovered by Terry’s uncle. There was no evidence that Terry had designated Sundwall as the beneficiary of any life insurance policy, and no proof of a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order or power of attorney. Sundwall is being held in Utah County Jail, and it is unclear if she has legal representation. Highland, where the incident occurred, is a city located south of Salt Lake City and northwest of Provo.
