Pilots in North Dakota Honored for Participation in Fly North Dakota Airports Passport Program

Multiple area pilots were recognized for their participation in the Fly North Dakota Airports Passport Program, receiving the prestigious Gold award. The program, which started in 2011, promotes safety and education for pilots by encouraging them to visit North Dakota’s airports, attend safety seminars, and explore aviation museums. To achieve the Gold award, pilots must fly to all 89 public airports in North Dakota, visit specific air museums, and attend safety seminars. This past year, 12 pilots reached this milestone and were presented with a leather flight jacket embroidered with the North Dakota Flying Legacy logo.

In total, 114 pilots have now achieved the Gold award since the program’s inception. The awards ceremony took place on March 2 at the Fargo Jet Center during the North Dakota Aviation Association’s Fly-ND Conference. The program is sponsored by the North Dakota Department of Commerce’s Tourism Division, the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission, the Airport Association of North Dakota, and the North Dakota Aviation Association.
