Richard Filipi, a long-time resident of Dickinson, ND, passed away at the age of 75 on March 6, 2025. Born to Ludwig and Tillie Filipi, Richard grew up on a farm with five sisters, attending school locally before joining the Navy in 1969. After four years of service, he returned to Dickinson and spent most of his career selling auto parts at Sax Motor Co for thirty-four years. Richard lived a simple life, never marrying or having children, and chose to retire in Fargo, ND.
In his final wishes, Richard opted for cremation instead of a traditional burial, believing that returning to the prairie would allow new life to flourish from his ashes. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jeanette, and nephews Todd and Anthony, but is survived by his sisters Joan, Geralyn, Gaylene, and Pamela.
Arrangements for Richard Filipi’s memorial service were handled by Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center. Friends and family gathered to celebrate his life and remember the impact he had on those around him. Richard’s kind and simple presence will be missed by all who knew him, as he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a love for the prairie that will endure beyond his years.
