Hawks divide victories in Sunday’s games at Bob Heck Memorial

The North Dakota softball team had a mixed day at the Bob Heck Memorial tournament, starting with an 8-5 victory over West Georgia before falling to host Georgia State in a close 3-2 game. The Hawks now stand at 11-12 for the season. Camryn Lasota’s home run and strong hitting from Callie Honig, Katie Joten, and others helped secure the win against West Georgia. Pitcher Unity Nelson and reliever Katelyn Strauss also played key roles in securing the victory. However, despite a strong effort in the nightcap against Georgia State, highlighted by a home run from Makenna Alexander, the Hawks fell short, marking their sixth one-run defeat of the season. Pitcher Jackie Albrecht battled through six innings, but a late home run from Georgia State secured their victory. The Hawks now look ahead to a doubleheader against Tennessee Tech. The team continues to show strong performances, with multiple players on impressive streaks and a strong showing of home runs in recent games.
