North Dakota Softball Bounces Back with Run-Rule Victory over Rutgers
After being no-hit in a tough loss to Rutgers, North Dakota softball came back strong and avenged the defeat by invoking the run rule in an 11-3 victory at the Bob Heck Memorial hosted by Georgia State. The win improved North Dakota’s record to 10-11 overall.
Despite Rutgers scoring first in the game, North Dakota responded with a strong offensive showing. Key hits from players like Katelyn Neumayer, Callie Honig, and Brooklyn Morris helped North Dakota build a commanding lead. Neumayer and Camryn Lasota also contributed with home runs, while Taya Hopfauf and Quincie Chunestudey had key hits to secure the win.
This victory marked North Dakota’s second win over a Power 4 opponent this season. The team showcased its resilience by defeating teams that had previously bested them in the same weekend. This game also highlighted the offensive prowess of North Dakota, with the team scoring ten or more runs for the fourth time this season.
The Hawks will wrap up the weekend with two more games, facing off against West Georgia and host Georgia State. Fans can follow the action on FightingHawks.com for live stats and updates.
