Treysen Eaglestaff of North Dakota sets new Summit League record with 51 points

In an outstanding performance, Treysen Eaglestaff scored a Summit League-record 51 points to lead North Dakota to an 85-69 victory over South Dakota State in the quarterfinals of the tournament. This also marked the most points scored in a Division I game this season. Eaglestaff’s remarkable achievement surpassed the previous conference record set by Geno Crandall. His performance ranks among the top in Division I history, with only a few players scoring 50 points in conference tournament games in the last 30 years.

Eaglestaff’s incredible scoring effort included shooting 15-for-28 from the floor and making 8-of-18 3-point attempts. This marked his second 40-point game of the season. Despite South Dakota State’s best efforts, led by Oscar Cluff’s 27 points and 17 rebounds, North Dakota’s victory secured them a spot in the semifinals against St. Thomas-Minnesota.

St. Thomas, currently ineligible for the NCAA tournament due to their transition to Division I, will have a shot at victory in the conference tournament. If they win, the automatic NCAA bid will go to regular-season champion Omaha. The exceptional performance by Eaglestaff and the upcoming matchup between North Dakota and St. Thomas are sure to generate excitement in the basketball community.
