President Donald Trump has signed an executive order prohibiting transgender female athletes from competing in women’s or girls’ sporting events, sparking strong support from North Dakotans. A statewide poll of 500 likely voters in North Dakota revealed that 52% approved of Trump’s job performance in his first month in office, while 32% disapproved. The poll also showed that 56% of voters believed the president’s executive orders and policy decisions were either excellent or good.
In addition to support for Trump, the poll also indicated approval for the work of the Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, with 59% of respondents supporting the efforts of DOGE to audit federal government agencies. However, the poll showed some negative sentiment towards local legislators and Governor Kelly Armstrong, with 35% disapproving of how issues were handled and 73% feeling it was too early to judge Armstrong’s performance.

The poll also revealed that while 76% of respondents definitely plan to vote in the 2026 mid-term elections, a significant portion identified as Republicans (48%), Democrats (20%), and independents (30%).
