A 17-year-old Waukesha West High School student was arrested in Iowa, more than 800 miles from his home in Wisconsin, after his mother and stepfather were found slain. Judith Mayer, Donald’s mother, described how her son and stepson enjoyed working outside together and had a shared love for plants and gardening. She also mentioned that her son owned a gun for protection, but she was not aware of any ongoing threats.
