Master Sgt. Zachary Robinson of the North Dakota Air National Guard was honored with the prestigious Pitsenbarger Award for his heroic actions during a shooting incident in Fargo on July 14, 2023. Robinson, who also serves as a police officer with the Fargo Police Department, neutralized an armed assailant, preventing further loss of life in the Fargo community. The award, given by the Air Force Sergeants Association, recognizes enlisted airmen who display extraordinary courage in life-threatening situations. Robinson’s quick actions saved the lives of fellow officers and civilians, preventing a potential mass casualty event. The ceremony took place at the Fargo Air National Guard Base, where Robinson was commended for his selfless and decisive actions. The 119th Wing members, known as the “Happy Hooligans,” expressed their appreciation for Robinson’s service in and out of the military uniform. Col. Christopher Domitrovich, 119th Wing commander, praised Robinson for exemplifying the “Hooligan Way” through his heroic actions.
