Hawks fall short in comeback attempt against South Dakota

In the regular season finale, the North Dakota Fighting Hawks faced off against South Dakota State, with the Coyotes claiming a 92-79 victory. Despite erasing a nine-point halftime deficit and having five players score in double figures, the Hawks were unable to maintain their lead as South Dakota pulled away late in the game. The Hawks finished the regular season with an 11-20 overall record and a 5-11 mark in league action.

The first half saw 16 lead changes and five tied scores, with the Coyotes holding a 39-30 lead at halftime. Both teams struggled from the three-point line in the first half, but they found their range in the second half. The Hawks managed to take the lead briefly in the second half, but the Coyotes responded with key plays to secure the win.

Despite the loss, several Hawks players had standout performances, including Dariyus Woodson who made five three-pointers and finished with 15 points. Deng Mayar, Treysen Eaglestaff, and Zach Kraft also contributed points for the team.

With the regular season over, the Hawks will now prepare for the Summit League Tournament next week, where they will enter as either the sixth or seventh seed. Fans can follow the action on Midco Sports and the Summit League Network, as well as listen to live radio coverage. Despite the loss, the Hawks remain determined and focused as they head into the postseason tournament.
