North Dakota FFA Foundation prepares for unprecedented donations – Agweek

The North Dakota FFA Foundation had a successful start to 2025, receiving a $200,000 donation from the Governor’s Heritage Foundation. This donation is the largest single monetary donation the foundation has ever received. Additionally, the foundation received over $73,000 in donations during Giving Hearts Day, a significant fundraising event in North Dakota.

The Governor’s Heritage Foundation provided unrestricted funding, allowing the foundation to use the money as needed. The executive director, Laiken DeMorrett, mentioned that the funds will be used to support existing programs and possibly initiate new projects unique to North Dakota FFA. Some of the key programs supported by the foundation include providing blue FFA jackets to new students, college scholarships, travel funds for conferences, and sponsorships for events. These initiatives aim to eliminate financial barriers to participation and allow students to develop important skills.

The foundation, established in 1980, also relies on other sources of funding, such as the Bakk Farm bequeathed to the North Dakota FFA. Individuals interested in supporting the foundation’s goals can donate or volunteer to mentor students. Overall, the foundation’s efforts focus on providing opportunities for students to excel in agriculture education and find a sense of belonging within the FFA community.
