The South Dakota State women’s swimming and diving team finished in fifth place at the Summit League Championships over the weekend. Poppy Mead stood out with a seventh-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle and the 200 butterfly, setting new program records. Marissa Branham also had a strong performance, finishing fourth in the 200 breaststroke. The team overall had multiple top 10 finishes and placed fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.
Denver dominated the championships, winning its 12th consecutive team title with 1,078 points. South Dakota followed in second place with 712 points, while Omaha came in third with 568.5 points. Individual winners included Paige Reilly in the 1,650 freestyle, Mina Ada Solaker in the 200 backstroke, and Emily Kahn in the 100 freestyle. Jessica Maeda from Denver was named the Swimming Championship MVP. Overall, it was a successful weekend of competition for the Jackrabbits despite strong competition from other schools in the Summit League.
