No. 16 North Dakota Fighting Hawks bounced back from a tough loss on Friday night with a 3-1 victory over No. 20 Colorado College on Saturday night. Graduate student goaltender T.J. Semptimphelter had a stellar performance with 24 saves on 25 shots, helping UND secure the win. Forward Ben Strinden and Carter Wilkie each contributed a goal, while defenseman Andrew Strathmann scored the game winner. The victory allowed UND to climb to No. 23 in the Pairwise Rankings and fourth place in the NCHC standings.
The game remained scoreless in the first period before Strinden opened the scoring in the second with a goal. Strathmann added another goal early in the third period, increasing UND’s lead to 2-0. Although CC responded with a goal, UND held on and Wilkie scored an empty netter to seal the 3-1 win.
The win marked several milestones for UND, including snapping a six-game winless streak and five straight losses against the Tigers. Carter Wilkie recorded his first multi-point game of the season, and Andrew Strathmann scored his first game-winning goal. With the victory, UND improved to 11-2-0 when scoring first and 10-1-1 when leading after two periods. The Fighting Hawks will now head back on the road for a matchup with Denver on Friday night.
