The South Dakota State women’s basketball team overcame a slow start to defeat Oral Roberts 89-71, maintaining their unbeaten record in Summit League play at 11-0. Paige Meyer led the way with 23 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and two steals. Brooklyn Meyer contributed 20 points, while Haleigh Timmer added 18 points. Mesa Byom also played a key role with nine points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
Despite Oral Roberts taking an early 9-0 lead, the Jackrabbits bounced back in the second quarter with a 14-0 run to take the lead. They finished the first half leading 38-35 and extended their lead in the third quarter to ultimately secure the 18-point victory.
Oral Roberts got 21 points from both Taleyah Jones and Emily Robinson, while Ruthie Udoumoh added 12 points. South Dakota State has now won 58 straight Summit League regular season games and improves to 33-6 all-time against Oral Roberts. The team shot above 50 percent for the 11th time this year.
Next up, South Dakota State will travel to Fargo to face North Dakota State on Wednesday night. The Jackrabbits are looking to continue their winning streak and solidify their position at the top of the Summit League standings.
