Rockville attorney Marylin Pierre is making her fourth attempt at becoming a Montgomery County Circuit Court judge, filing her candidacy for the upcoming primary election. Pierre will be challenging four incumbents for one of the four available seats on the bench.
Pierre faced controversy during her 2020 campaign, with allegations of making false statements about her opponents and professional record. She was reprimanded by the Maryland Supreme Court for one of the statements made by her campaign. Despite calls for her disbarment, the court decided to postpone further investigations until after the election.
During a candidate forum in 2022, Pierre criticized the vetting process of judicial nominating commissions, claiming her lack of connections on the commission has hindered her chances of being selected. She highlighted instances of perceived favoritism in the selection process, stating that she does not have the same connections to move her application forward.
Pierre’s persistence in seeking a judicial position reflects her determination to overcome past challenges and obstacles in her pursuit of a judgeship. As the primary election approaches, Pierre’s campaign will continue to address these issues and emphasize her qualifications for the role of a Montgomery County Circuit Court judge.
