South Dakota State University’s men’s golf team has announced the addition of Caleb Kern to its 2025 recruiting class. Kern, a standout golfer from Wisconsin, will be joining the Jackrabbits for the 2025-26 season after graduating from high school this spring. Kern, who won the individual state title in Wisconsin as a junior in 2024, is known for his high-level work ethic and athletic background.
Throughout his high school career, Kern has been a three-time all-conference selection and state qualifier, with a stroke average of 71.8 over his first three seasons. In 2024, Kern was named the Rock Valley Conference Player of the Year and earned first-team all-state honors. Head coach Parker Edens expressed his excitement about having Kern on the team, stating that Jackrabbit fans should be thrilled to meet the Wisconsin High School State Champion and highlighting Kern’s potential as a player.
Aside from his success on the course, Kern is also a four-year academic honoree, showcasing his commitment to both his sport and academics. The son of Brent and Michelle Kern, he plans to major in business economics at South Dakota State University. Kern’s addition to the team has generated anticipation for his future contributions to the Jackrabbits, and he is expected to make a significant impact on the team in the upcoming season.
