Plan for Fall Hunting Season in North Dakota Outdoors: Tips and advice | News, Sports, Jobs

More than 250,000 students have completed a hunter education course in North Dakota since 1979, creating a safer hunting environment for all. With state law requiring anyone born after December 31, 1961, to pass a certified hunter education course to hunt in the state, now is the time to start planning for next fall’s hunting season. Classes are typically held between January and May, taught by over 700 volunteer instructors who have other commitments as well. Youth under age 12 can still hunt with adults before taking the course.
In the coming months, around 240 different hunter education classes will be held in communities across North Dakota. Those who will need to take a course in 2025 should monitor the North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s website for class updates. The comprehensive course covers wildlife management, biology, ethics, and morals of hunting, ensuring a well-rounded education for all participants. Don’t wait until the last minute to find a course, sign up for text or email alerts to stay informed.
