The University of North Dakota volleyball program has announced the hiring of Jimmy Stika as the new Director of Operations. Stika, who comes from NCAA Division III Fontbonne, will be filling the position left vacant by Matt Breitbarth. Coach Jesse Tupac expressed excitement about Stika joining the program, noting his unique coaching experience on both the Men’s and Women’s sides of volleyball.
Stika had successful stints as the head women’s volleyball coach at Fontbonne, leading the team to 56 victories and a conference tournament championship in 2023. He also coached the men’s team, achieving 53 wins, including the program’s first-ever regular season conference title. Stika’s coaching accomplishments have earned him recognition, including being named the 2022 Co-Conference Coach of the Year and receiving the AVCA 30 Under 30 Award.
Apart from his collegiate coaching experience, Stika has also coached at the club and high school levels in the St. Louis area. As a player, he was a standout libero and captain on Fontbonne’s men’s volleyball team. Stika graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in supply chain management.
With Stika’s wealth of experience and success in coaching, the UND volleyball program looks to benefit from his expertise and leadership. For more information on North Dakota Volleyball, fans can follow @UNDvolleyball on social media or visit FightingHawks.com.
