The University of Denver volleyball team is gearing up to face off against North Dakota State Bison in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Volleyball tournament in Kansas City, Missouri. Denver previously defeated NDSU with a 3-0 sweep and holds a strong 19-7 all-time record against them. Led by first-year coach Pendergast, the Pioneers secured a 12-4 conference record and claimed their first Summit League regular season title since 2020. Denver achieved a perfect 9-0 home record this season, their first unbeaten season at home since 2015, and maintained a winning streak for 13 years overall with a 12-4 conference record.
Despite their historical dominance over NDSU, the unpredictability of tournament play adds an element of uncertainty, especially in high-pressure games like this quarterfinal. The Pioneers received five All-Summit League honors, showcasing their team talent and depth. In a recent comeback victory over St. Thomas, Denver tied for the largest fifth-set comeback in the program’s history since 2000.
If Denver emerges victorious against NDSU, they will advance to the Summit League semifinals as they continue their quest for a championship title.
