The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Women’s basketball team secured a solid victory against the South Dakota School of Mines with a final score of 74-55. The Golden Eagles dominated the game from the start, jumping out to an early lead in the first quarter and continuing their strong performance throughout the game.
UMC’s Emma Miller, Willow Thiel, and Riley Jenkins led the charge, contributing significantly to the team’s success. Thiel and Jenkins went on an impressive 11-0 run in the second quarter, helping UMC build a substantial lead. Hope Dudycha also made key contributions, finishing with 16 points.
The Golden Eagles’ strong defense limited Mines to only two points in the second quarter, propelling them to a 36-22 lead at halftime. UMC maintained their lead in the second half, ultimately securing a comfortable victory.
With this win, UMC improves to 2-4 on the year and will be looking to carry this momentum into their upcoming games. Mines, on the other hand, drops to 0-5 on the year.
