Union Reports Las Vegas Police Arrested 57 Casino Workers on Strike

Police in Las Vegas arrested 57 striking casino workers outside Virgin Hotels last week after they walked off their jobs over stalled contract negotiations. The Culinary Union shared images and videos on social media showing members blocking a road and being handcuffed by police during the protest. The union’s leadership, including President Diana Valles, were among those arrested. Las Vegas police later reopened the road that was closed due to the protests. The city was hosting the Formula One Grand Prix during the incident. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is owned by JC Hospitality, Juniper Capital Partners, Virgin Group, and others, but they did not immediately comment on the situation. The striking workers were advocating for a new five-year union pay contract and engaged in non-violent civil disobedience that led to their arrests. The Culinary Union continues to fight for the rights and fair treatment of its members in the hospitality industry.
