A transgender woman in Boston was violently attacked by a man named Gregory Burnett at the Maverick train station, resulting in her sustaining a fractured wrist. The victim reported that Burnett punched and kicked her while shouting derogatory terms related to her gender identity. Other passengers had to intervene to help fend off Burnett during the attack. District Attorney Kevin Hayden emphasized that such acts of violence based on sexual orientation or gender identity will not be tolerated. Burnett was arrested and charged with assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and civil rights violation with injury. It is unclear if he has legal representation. Police were able to identify him through witness accounts and surveillance footage from the train station. Authorities are committed to ensuring the safety of all individuals while using public transportation and condemning acts of discrimination and violence.
