State Canvassing Board convenes to officially confirm results of general election


The North Dakota State Canvassing Board met on Wednesday morning to certify the statewide election results, with Secretary of State Howe noting a record turnout of more than 371,000 voters. The board, consisting of state officials and party representatives, recognized a new trend of increased absentee and early voting in the state. Automatic recounts were announced for two Soil Conservation District races and demand recounts were met for two state House seats. The board will reconvene on Dec. 2 to address recounts. Donald Trump was declared the winner of North Dakota’s presidential election and will receive three electoral votes. The meeting of presidential electors is set for Dec. 17. This information was provided during a press conference by Secretary of State Howe.
