Illinois State football is gearing up for their final regular-season game against North Dakota this Saturday at Hancock Stadium. The Redbirds are on a four-game win streak and are looking to secure their first playoff bid since 2019. Quarterback Tommy Rittenhouse has been a key factor in their recent success, throwing for over 1,000 yards and six touchdowns in the last four games.
On the other side, the Fighting Hawks bring a strong offense led by quarterback Simon Romfo and wide receiver Bo Belquist. Romfo has thrown for 17 touchdowns and close to 2,000 passing yards this season, while Belquist leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Running back Isaiah Smith also contributes to the ground game with over 600 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
Defensively, the Fighting Hawks will have to contain ISU’s offense, which has been averaging over 30 points per game during their win streak. Linebacker Wyatt Pedigo leads the team in tackles, while defensive back Devin Hembry has three interceptions and nine pass breakups this season. Linebacker Josh Navratil has been a force in the pass rush with five sacks, nine-and-a-half tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles.
The game is set to kick off at 12 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+. With both teams looking to finish their regular season strong, it promises to be an exciting matchup.
