South Dakota State Women’s Volleyball Team Prepares for Final Match Against South Dakota
South Dakota State University’s women’s volleyball team is gearing up for their final match of the Summit League regular season against South Dakota on Tuesday night. The Jackrabbits have secured at least a share of the Summit League regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament. However, a win in this upcoming match would secure sole possession of the title, marking their first conference title since 2007.
With a record of 25-1 overall and 14-1 in conference matches, SDSU has had a standout season, achieving the most single-season conference victories since 2004. The team has also seen record-breaking attendance numbers at home games this season. Standing at No. 31 in the RPI, SDSU is receiving votes in the AVCA/Taraflex Volleyball Poll for the seventh consecutive week.
Key players such as Sydni Schetnan and Sylvie Zgonc have made significant contributions to the team’s success, leading in hitting percentage, blocks per set, kills, and points per set. Rylee Martin’s performance in assists has also been notable, with her breaking the school’s single-season ace record in the current scoring era.
The Jackrabbits will be facing off against a tough opponent in South Dakota, who has an 18-8 overall record and is 10-5 in the Summit League. The match is expected to be a thrilling end to the regular season, with both teams vying for a victory. Fans can expect an exciting game as SDSU looks to secure sole possession of the Summit League title.
