North Dakota State Dominates Missouri State in FCS Showdown
FARGO, N.D. — The North Dakota State Bison showcased their dominance as they crushed the Missouri State Bears 59-21 in a key Missouri Valley Football Conference matchup on Saturday at the Fargodome. With this impressive victory, the Bison, ranked No. 1, edged closer to securing their tenth national championship in fifteen years.
The game turned early when NDSU’s Barika Kpeenu made an explosive 52-yard touchdown run, setting the tone for the afternoon. By halftime, North Dakota State had built an insurmountable 28-0 lead, aided by a potent offensive line that facilitated a staggering 364 rushing yards. In contrast, Missouri State struggled to find rhythm, totaling just 86 rushing yards on 35 carries, as the Bison’s defensive line consistently disrupted their plays.
Missouri State quarterback Jacob Clark, despite being pressured throughout the game, managed to complete 18 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, breaking the school’s single-season passing record. His efforts, however, were not enough to mount a serious challenge against an imposing NDSU defense.
Bison quarterback Cam Miller further solidified his candidacy for the Walter Payton Award, tossing four touchdown passes, including a critical 22-yard connection to Jackson Williams early in the contest. Clark briefly rallied the Bears, leading a drive that produced a touchdown, but the Bison quickly countered with additional scoring, leaving Missouri State unable to close the gap.
Despite the loss, Missouri State remains in contention for a share of the conference title, with hopes pinned on an upcoming game against ranked South Dakota State. "Anything is possible," said Bears player Hunter Wood, urging his teammates to stay focused for the final stretch of the season.
As the Bison continue their quest for championship glory, the Bears will be looking to rebound against their toughest opponent yet next week.
