A tragic accident occurred last Saturday that resulted in the death of a Laurel woman, Tracy Mortenson. The collision took place 12 miles west of Beresford, S.D., involving Mortenson’s 2018 Ford Explorer and a 2018 Ford F-150 driven by 19-year-old Bailey Feistner of Woonsocket, South Dakota. The incident occurred when Feistner failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling northbound on Highway 19 and collided with Mortenson’s vehicle traveling east on Highway 46.
Mortenson tragically died at the scene, while Feistner sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety released a press statement providing preliminary information about the incident.
