Jerrie Marble Cowan, a beloved member of the Tehachapi community, passed away at the age of 85 on October 22. Born in Tehachapi in 1939, Jerrie was known for her selfless dedication to her family and community. She was a founder of the Tehachapi Heritage League, a longtime museum director, and a leading volunteer at the Tomo Kahni State Historic Park.
Throughout her life, Jerrie worked tirelessly to preserve local landmarks and educate children about the area’s history and culture. She was also a devoted wife to Harry Cowan and a devoted mother to their three sons. Jerrie was remembered for her adventurous spirit, teaching children to swim, and her involvement in various community organizations.
Jerrie was a skilled craftswoman, creating historic clothing and wedding dresses for her family. She was also known for her love of animals, especially her Dachshunds, and her willingness to care for all kinds of pets, including snakes and tortoises.
A Celebration of Life for Jerrie will be held on November 16 at the Tehachapi Adult Day Healthcare Center. Her legacy of service and dedication to the community will be cherished by all who knew her. Jerrie Cowan will be remembered as a woman of strength, energy, and determination who touched the lives of many in Tehachapi.
