An Israeli air strike on a school in northern Gaza housing displaced Palestinians has resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people, bringing the total death toll in the region to 36 in the past day. The Israeli military stated that it targeted the school in Jabalia refugee camp because it believed Hamas fighters were using it as a command center for attacks. However, footage from the scene showed rescue workers frantically trying to save casualties amidst the debris and chaos.
This incident is part of a larger pattern of Israeli forces targeting schools in Gaza, claiming that they are being used by Hamas for military purposes. The Palestinian group has denied these allegations. Many schools in Gaza have been converted into shelters for families who have been displaced by the ongoing conflict in the region.
In a separate incident, the bodies of 88 Palestinians returned to Gaza by Israel were buried in a mass grave in Khan Younis. The Health Ministry in Gaza criticized Israel for the way the bodies were handled, calling it inhumane and immoral. The latest figures from the Health Ministry show that Israel’s war on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of 41,534 Palestinians and the injury of 96,092, with a significant number of casualties being women and children, including young babies and toddlers.
