Public Comment Period Now Open for North Dakota’s Proposal to Address Underperforming Schools


The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction has opened public comment on a proposed plan to address underperforming schools in the state. The plan, developed as part of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), aims to ensure that all students have access to a quality education and that struggling schools receive the support they need to improve.

Under the proposed plan, schools that consistently perform in the bottom 5% on state assessments will be identified as needing comprehensive support. These schools will receive targeted interventions and support to help them improve their performance and better meet the needs of their students.
