The war between Russia and Ukraine has entered its 935th day with ongoing fighting and political developments. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported 100 battles over the past 24 hours, with heavy fighting in the eastern front. Russia carried out a drone attack on Ukraine’s Kyiv region, resulting in injuries and damaged homes. The Ukrainian Air Force successfully shot down a large number of Russian drones targeting various regions.
In diplomatic news, French researcher Laurent Vinatier pleaded guilty in a Russian court on charges of unlawfully collecting military information. The US Attorney’s office in Boston charged Sam Bhambhani and Maxim Teslenko with illegal smuggling, accusing them of selling equipment to Russia’s nuclear energy industry. Ukraine added Russian-Canadian filmmaker Anastasia Trofimova to its national security blacklist for her documentary spreading what it considers to be “Russian propaganda” about the war in Ukraine.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian denied transferring any weapons to Russia for use in the war, despite accusations from the US and its allies. Outgoing NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed talks on Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles to strike inside Russian territory, emphasizing that decisions on weapon use should be made by individual countries.
