Mark Meadows’ attempt to transfer Arizona case to federal court denied by judge

Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows’s attempt to move his Arizona indictment to federal court was rejected by a federal judge due to missed deadlines. Meadows, along with other Trump aides, was indicted in April for efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona and six other states. Prosecutors allege Meadows orchestrated a scheme with members of Trump’s campaign to submit false Republican electors’ votes. Each defendant faces nine felony counts. In a separate case in Georgia, Meadows and Trump were indicted on state felony charges related to similar election overturn efforts, with Meadows failing to move his case to federal court. Trump’s federal case in Washington, D.C., has stalled with no trial date set, while the case in Georgia has seen some initial counts thrown out, with the case on hold due to efforts to disqualify the prosecutor. Meadows and Trump have pleaded not guilty in both cases. Meadows’s attorney did not provide immediate comment on the Arizona court’s decision.
