The Israeli military has stated that leaflets dropped on a Lebanon border village urging residents to evacuate were unauthorized. The leaflets warned residents of south Lebanon, amid ongoing cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israel, sparked by the war on Gaza. The Israeli military clarified that the brigade responsible for dropping the leaflets did so without official approval. The leaflets warned residents to leave their homes due to Hezbollah firing from the region, giving a deadline of 4pm to evacuate. It also threatened those who remained after the deadline with being considered terrorists. Wazzani, the village in question, is in an agricultural region where Syrian refugees often work. While some Syrian workers are leaving the area, the mayor of Wazzani, Ahmed al-Mohammed, stated that farmers cannot abandon their land and livestock. Tens of thousands of civilians have already fled villages on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon frontier due to cross-border strikes. The Israeli military clarified that no official evacuation was underway, and the unauthorized leaflet drop has caused confusion and concern among residents of the region.
