Apply Now for the 2024 North Dakota Swan License – Jamestown Sun

Applications for the 2024 North Dakota swan license are now available, as announced by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.

Swan hunting in North Dakota has become increasingly popular in recent years, with the state’s swan population steadily growing. In 2023, the state issued 2,200 licenses for swan hunting, up from just 1,000 licenses a few years ago.

According to Jeb Williams, wildlife chief for the Game and Fish Department, the increase in swan licenses is a result of the growing population of swans in North Dakota. The department closely monitors the swan population each year to ensure sustainable hunting practices.

The application deadline for the swan license is September 5, 2024, and applicants must apply online through the Game and Fish Department’s website. The cost of the license is $30 for residents and $100 for nonresidents.

To be eligible for a swan license, applicants must have a general game and habitat license. In addition, hunters must have completed a certified hunter education course if born after December 31, 1961.

Once selected for a swan license, hunters will be able to hunt swans during the designated hunting season, which typically runs from late September to early December. Hunters are allowed to harvest one swan per license.

Overall, the increase in swan licenses for 2024 reflects the continued popularity of swan hunting in North Dakota. With the state’s growing swan population, hunters can look forward to another successful hunting season this year.
