Senator Grassley shares video showing aftermath of the shooting of the suspect who targeted Trump

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley shared a video showing the aftermath of the killing of Thomas Crooks, the shooter who targeted former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Crooks was shot and killed by law enforcement after he fired at Trump, also killing one other person and injuring two others. Grassley demanded answers and accountability for the security failures that allowed the shooting to occur.

The video posted by Grassley shows Crooks’ body on a rooftop where he fired from, alongside blood stains. The video also shows law enforcement officers armed with rifles and wearing body armor. Grassley obtained the video from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit.

Crooks’ motive for the shooting has not been determined, and the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General has opened three reviews surrounding the incident. The U.S. Secret Service Director has resigned, taking responsibility for the security lapse.

Pennsylvania State Police had identified Crooks as suspicious before the shooting but only relayed the information to the Secret Service moments before he began firing. Trump, now the official Republican nominee for president, will no longer hold outdoor rallies following the attempt on his life, opting for indoor events instead.

Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers are calling for answers on how Crooks was able to open fire at a former president, and investigations are ongoing surrounding the security failures that led to the incident.
