Military Day at State Fair includes band performance and picnic | Local event features music, food for armed forces members

The North Dakota State Fair held a Military Appreciation Day picnic sponsored by various organizations like the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, N.D. Beef Commission, and N.D. Cattlewomen. The event featured cuts of beef, baked beans, hot dogs, chips, and live music from the 188th Army Band of the North Dakota Army National Guard, who have strong ties with the community and perform mainly in local communities. A large group of active military, veterans, and retirees attended the event, enjoying the food and music. Chief Warrant Officer 3 James Landman, the band’s commander, mentioned that they also have to fulfill the requirements of other National Guard units, such as physical fitness, and are available for emergencies.
During the band’s performance, attendees like Airman 1st Class Robert Wilkie, expressed their enjoyment of the music and excitement for upcoming fair events.
