Essentia Health will be holding sports physical blitzes in late July at two of its clinics to help student-athletes prepare for the fall 2024 sports season. The blitzes will take place at the Essentia Health-The Lights West Fargo Clinic and Essentia Health-South University Clinic from July 22 to July 26. Vaccinations will also be available at the blitzes, which are open to all ages.
A sports physical is required in most states, including North Dakota and Minnesota, for student-athletes to participate in sports. The physical helps determine if it is safe for a child to engage in a specific sport, and is valid for one year in North Dakota and three years in Minnesota. It is recommended to complete and bring the appropriate form available online before the appointment.
Sports physicals can be done as part of a well-child/teen visit, which covers various aspects of a child’s health and development. These visits are recommended annually and are a good time to review a child’s overall well-being. Sports physicals at Essentia Health cost $57 and are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. While appointments are recommended, they are not required, and those interested can call (701) 364-8900 to schedule. It is not necessary to be a patient at Essentia Health to attend the blitzes.
