South Dakota Athletics is beefing up security at the DakotaDome and the Sanford Coyote Sports Center with a new clear bag policy set to go into effect on August 1. The goal of the policy is to enhance safety and create a more enjoyable experience for attendees at athletic events. Under the new rules, each attendee is allowed to bring one clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bag that does not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a one-gallon plastic freezer bag. Small clutches are also permitted, but backpacks, coolers, and other large bags are prohibited.
Fans and their belongings will be subject to inspection at the stadium entrances, and those with non-compliant bags will be asked to return them to their vehicles, hotel rooms, or homes. Season ticket holders for the 2024 season will receive a complimentary clear bag that meets the policy’s requirements, and Coyote-branded clear bags are available for purchase at various locations.
To expedite the security process, fans are encouraged to arrive early, as doors will open 60 minutes before events at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center and 90 minutes before Coyote football games in the DakotaDome. There are accommodations in place for approved medical needs, with medical bags or equipment undergoing inspection at the gate entry. For more information on the new clear bag policy, fans can visit the FAQ section on the GoYotes.com website.
